Fighting Fish

With the warmer temperatures of the water and this time of the year the, fishing is phenomenal. We are catching Tarpon, Black Drum and Snook in the Harbor and in back country.

The Charlotte Harbor is booming with Tarpon in the open waters of the harbor and on the flats. We are catching fifty to hundred pound in the open water of the harbor. They are everywhere that fishermen have been fly fishing them, which is unbelievable. Also, we are catching the juvenile tarpon in the back country on the flats, and they are ranging from ten to thirty pounds. If you want to go Tarpon fishing, on light tackle now is the time to go.

Black drum is another popular fish this time of the year. There size is ranging from thirty to fifty pounds. They are currently being caught on blue grab. Some of the fishing guides has been catching them in back country tailing, which is amazing and a rare occurrence. However, you can catch them at the bridges in charlotte harbor.

As always, the snook are biting and you would not believe the sizes we are catching on the flats. The snooks are ranging from twenty to twenty-four inches, with a few larger than thirty inchers mixed in. We are still catching redfish, mangrove snapper, and trout.
